Proud to be Living our Faith
Our Living our Faith program is a way that you and your congregation can learn about what it is like to work in a chicken plant, and discuss what your faith says about welcoming the stranger and people's right to be treated with dignity and respect-at work and in the community.
By making a pledge of $50 or more, your congregation will be recognized as on of our Living Our Faith partners. We will send your church a membership certificate and add you to our mailing list to receive:
- quarterly newsletter
- Labor in the Pulpits educational materials
- other faith and justice materials
- calendar of MPOWER events
You and your congregation can get involved in supporting poultry workers today!
- Invite a poultry worker to speak at your service, bible study or committee meeting.
- Host a workers' rights/ health and safety workshop for poultry workers in your congregation or community.
- Start a "Faith in Action" committee at your church that will take action on justice issues important to your congregation and that will stand in solidarity with poultry workers on their campaign for fair, safe and dignified work.
- Ask your finance committee to approve an annual contribution to MPOWER. You can write it into your budget! Let us know that we can rely on your continued support.
- Ask you pastor to participate in the Labor in the Pulpits program on Labor Day weekend when pastors across the country discuss how fair workplace treatment and supporting workers' rights to organize are moral values shared by your faith tradition.
MPOWER staff will provide background materials, planning assistance, speakers and other help coordinating the event.
